Biography
Originally from New York, I moved to Chicago in 1977. As a former teacher I believe that everyone has potential and that finding it is the key to their happiness. Most recently my professional dedication has been towards improving the lives of persons with disabilities.
I began painting in 1999 and my current work is done entirely with watercolor on a variety of surfaces: traditional watercolor paper, Japanese Masa, and synthetic Yupo are among my favorites. Each type has its own unique set of characteristics and challenges. Combining these papers with the vast range of applications particular to watercolor; I find that my most successful pieces are usually the ones produced in an atmosphere of patience, and spontaneity, while allowing myself unlimited “access” to a variety of personal emotions.
Much of my artwork has been exhibited at several “Waterworks” exhibitions at August House Gallery in Chicago, the Koehnline Museum of Art, Northwestern University Lurie Center Atrium, the Art Center of Highland Park, and the Village of Deerfield. In addition, many works have been donated to charitable causes.
